Race Awareness and Race Skills Beginners Course
Course content and objectives:
This course is aimed at the complete novice who would like to try sailing for the first time before signing up to do Competent Crew or something similar.
The course is run by friendly instructors who understand you may be apprehensive. The emphasis is on fun and enjoyment and we are sure you will not want to leave at the end of the course.
The morning of the course will be shore based, your instructors will cover all aspects of a day’s sailing including, safety, preparing the yacht and leaving the mooring, getting ready for the race, sailing theory, race procedures and race tactics.
In the afternoon you will get the chance to put the theory into practice. You will gain experience of mooring, rigging a yacht, sail handling and a fun practice race.
By the end of the course you should feel confident about getting out on a yacht, hopefully you will find you're a natural and be hooked for life!
