Coastguard rescue

Thursday 26 March

Dear Fellow Member and Friends,

I have to advise a correction to my last notification sent out this morning [Update #05} with regards to Shoreham Port only allowing designated commercial craft to use the lock. This is not currently the situation, with the guidance on the SYC website being revised to read; 'Your craft should not be used for recreational sailing and the port will encourage stake holders to follow government guidelines'.

Further to this, Pete Mizen, Assistant Director for HM Coastguard, has said;

"The rules are very simple and can be found on the Government website. Stay at home. The risk of spreading Coronavirus is huge and while you might be okay, the person you give it to may not, and if you get into trouble and have to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard, you’re then putting frontline emergency responders at risk of COVID-19 too.”

Keep safe and well.
