Held Saturday 3 Sep 2016
As was explained at the meeting, the proceedings were recorded using two devices and the official minutes will be primarily compiled from these recordings backed up by written notes. Asst Sec Jenni is unfortunately still recovering from an injury, so her transcription of the minutes will take a little time before they can be checked and published. In the meantime we can say that the meeting was very well attended and resulted in an almost unanimous result. The original special resolution was amended during the meeting by a normal resolution approved by a unanimous show of hands, delivering the following amended special resolution wording:
‘It is proposed that the membership accept in principle the recommended option for flood defence works at the Sussex Yacht Club Shoreham-by-Sea site, including the disposal of club land directly adjacent to the A259 combined with the construction of a new club house and associated facilities subject to ratification at a later General Meeting.’
Of the 174 votes cast by voting members (including proxy votes) 172 were in favour with 2 against.
