Club House Redevelopment

Update 17 July 2018

Progress on the development is steady; regular workshops are taking place involving the key professional design team of Architect, M & E, Structural Engineering  with these meetings chaired by Derek Copeman who is representing the Club at these meetings along with Tim Leigh, Club Secretary. Derek, our current Club President, as a practicing commercial architect is best placed to help us at this stage; Tim is providing administrative support and feed back/co-ordination between design and the other committees/individuals and consultants involved at this time. Technical design to RIBA Stage 4 is about 50% complete and on track.

The contract with the council should be concluded within the next four weeks allowing the Club Main Committee to consider and if agreed, exchange contracts with the Council on the sale of the land strip. Completion will take place following receipt of all other required consents for both schemes (our development and the flood defences).

The Planning Application has been submitted and and formally registered. The Statutory 21 day consultative period has concluded and we are hopeful the application will come before the August Planning Committee Meeting with a a recommendation to approve subject to conditions. We continue to liaise with the council project team to negotiate the wording of planning conditions and respond to consultation comments.

Finance: At this stage we are happy that the finances are adding up and the scheme remains affordable to SYC within the principles agreed by both our current and previous Treasurers. We will know more after the technical design stage is finished and has been costed by the Club’s cost consultants.

The Shoreham Development Committee (SDP) at Sussex Yacht Club are very pleased to announce that the long awaited planning application for the new club house has now been submitted.
