Funeral 23 January 2013
I am sad to inform all our members that Paul Powter passed away last Wednesday evening (9 Jan 2013), peacefully at home after a long battle against cancer. Aged 77, Paul had been a member since 1967 and leaves his widow Mavis and two sons, David and Ian.
It has been my privilege to know Paul for many years, sailing Overture and Chiron together with Mavis and Roger ‘The Bear’ and we enjoyed many cruises together. To see Paul and Mavis performing ‘We’re a couple of swells’ in Honfleur in front of a local choir was a never to be forgotten experience, as was Paul’s rendition at a recent St. Georges night of ‘Berlington Bertie’. The funeral takes place at Worthing Crematorium, Findon, next Wednesday 23 January at 14:40.
