The 2026 sailing season is officially underway at Sussex Yacht Club, and we are thrilled to welcome members, visiting yachts, and competitive crews back to the water. With a calendar packed full of racing, rallies, and social highlights, this season promises more opportunities than ever to get involved — whether you're a seasoned offshore competitor or just beginning your sailing journey.
Our first race of the season launched on 1st March, setting the tone for an action-packed year ahead. From early Spring through the height of Summer and into the crisp racing days of Autumn, our programme runs right through to November, ensuring consistent opportunities to sail, compete, and connect.

Spotlight Event: Royal Escape Race 2026
One of the standout events in this year’s calendar is the Royal Escape Race 2026 — the 46th edition of our iconic cross-Channel yacht race from Brighton to Fécamp. This historic offshore event commemorates the escape of Charles II and remains one of the most anticipated yacht races in the region.
The Royal Escape Race 2026 combines competitive offshore sailing with rich maritime history, attracting both experienced racers and ambitious first-time Channel challengers.
Whether you're aiming for silverware or simply the satisfaction of completing the crossing, this race is a defining moment in the 2026 season.
