With a huge amount of gratitude I would like to thank everyone, over 30 of us throughout the day, who so kindly turned up on Saturday and contributed to a great day getting our new clubhouse ready to occupy.
Members, teenagers through to octogenarians, were there to help and I am so thankful to all of you. We had a list of jobs we did not expect to get through but were amazed at the amount that was achieved on the day; nearly all the wall art and other items have now gone up, changing room benches and pegs erected, 40 restaurant tables have been built from flat pack, balcony tables and benches rubbed down and oiled, old bar tables have been sanded and repainted so beautifully we now plan to do the rest, the figurehead has found someone to kindly give her a facelift, the kitchen and restaurant cooking utensils and crockery have been thoroughly washed, shelves erected, racking erected, optics put up, a wash up area built, the bar cellar cold room built, volunteers fed and watered, brass polished and many items stored in the wrong places are now in the right places ready to welcome you when we open in May.
Saturday was a demonstration of what this club is able to achieve when loyal club members come together and enjoy a day of hard work and good fun whilst kept going with good food and coffee in copious quantity. More remains to complete and the list will be added to for a long time to come as we settle in, but huge progress was made on Saturday. Many of you have offered to come back and enjoy another day before we open and this is likely to be organised in May. If you wish to volunteer, again or for the first time, please email the office.
Thank you all
