The Royal Escape Race began in 1977 as a shared vision between Sussex Yacht Club and Société des Régates de Fécamp with historical support from the @oldshipbrighton , bringing sailors together for a true cross-Channel challenge.
Nearly five decades later, that same spirit of adventure is still going strong.
This year marks the 49th year of the race, with the landmark 50th year on the horizon in 2027. Every edition adds another chapter to a story shaped by determination, camaraderie and unforgettable miles at sea.
