Notice is hereby given that the Committee of the Club proposes amendments to the Club Rules in accordance with the provisions of the Rule Book.
This communication constitutes not less than thirty (30) days’ written notice to members of the proposed rule changes.
- Amendment to Rule 42 – Smoking, Vaping and Recreational Drugs
Rule 42 is confirmed and clarified as follows:
Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes or “vaping”, is not permitted inside the Shoreham or Southwick clubhouses, stores or workshops. Smoking or vaping will only be permitted in designated areas, subject to any relevant legislation that may apply.
The Club operates a zero tolerance policy in relation to recreational drugs. The possession, use or supply of recreational drugs on any part of the Club’s premises is strictly forbidden. Any breach of this rule, subject to Rule 3 of the Club Rules, will be expected to result in permanent termination of membership.
- Proposed Amendment to Rule 3 – Disciplinary Matters
It is proposed that the following new sub-rule be added as Rule 3(e):
“The Club has a zero tolerance policy towards abuse or bullying of staff whether such abuse or bullying be of any kind including verbal, racial or sexual, and any breach of this policy will result in disciplinary action being taken.”
Subject to any approval requirements under the Club Rules, the above amendments will take effect on Friday 20th February 2026.
Members may submit any comments or queries in writing to the Committee via the Secretary by Monday 16th February 2026.
