SYC Coastal Water Sports

SYC Coastal Water Sports offers the perfect opportunity to build your confidence and skills on the water. Whether you're new to sailing or looking to enjoy time afloat in a more relaxed, non-competitive setting, this area of the club is designed with you in mind.

We use the Stack Team App to organise and manage all Coastal Water Sports sessions. For the best experience, we recommend downloading the app and using it to book your sessions throughout the sailing season.

Below is a list of additional sessions and activities available as part of the SYC Coastal Water Sports programme.

Keelboat Taster Sail

These evenings are aimed at those who are new to sailing and would like to try the sport. Spaces are limited and we make a small charge which will be returned if you sign up to an RYA training course. You will sail in one of the club keelboats with a club coach and weather permitting head to sea.

Keelboat Improvers

These evenings are aimed at those who have attended an RYA keelboats Course and are looking to improve skills. We will head to sea subjects to weather with a support boat with a club coach onboard to assist as required.

We would love to see as many members as possible out on the water enjoying the river and coastal waters and sharing our passion, so come and play.

SYC Family & Cadet Evenings

During May, June and July we run family and cadet evenings from our clubhouse in Southwick. These are informal and fun sessions to give children the opportunity to experience dinghy sailing.

The evenings run every Tuesday (weather permitting) from 1800 to 2030. Please note the first 2 sessions are free, we then require the child to become a cadet member at a cost of £54 in order to continue attending the sessions. Guardians are required to remain on site and are encouraged to help out if possible.
